This new site is devoted to the

International Family "Sheeran"

Clan Sheeran

The Irish version is O'Siorain for the men,

and Ni Shiorain for the women.

 

My family has been scattered through death and distance. A few years ago I had trouble locating a close family member and so did many hours of web searches on line using the name "Sheeran" in the search engine. On one of my initial web searches I unexpectedly found my long lost cousin Joan G. Sheeran. We started to correspond. She is archiving the history of our family, and she was able to teach me more about my descent. I had some information for her. I had a larger family. My circle has expanded.

I considered the value of "family knowledge" from a biological and genetic interest- from a social, philosophical and spiritual perspective. As I searched for my lost family, I found a greater new identity.

I looked more into our historic roots in Ireland. To my surprise I learned that we are a very old and numerous Clan. We still are! We started and continue in Ireland, but now Sheerans are living all around the world. What could the collective "Clan Sheeran" mean today?

We are involved with Spirit, Art, Science and Education. I found Sheerans interested in genealogy and history, and I also found that many of us are communicators. Some of us publish web sites or are in business on the web.

I kept saying ,"Wow, We sure are an interesting family!"

I had never before considered myself as part of an international tribe.

This site is not dedicated to my particular branch of our family but an idea that we are part of a much larger and older circle.

We got many great letters from Sheerans all around the world~ Thank you very much!

 We are encouraged and will continue.

I'll continue contacting interesting Sheeran members on the web and invite them to correspond. I hope to make a registry of all who would like to be included in Family Sheeran. Please send a note and let me know what you know about our family. Send a photo of your self if you like and I will make a portrait page and links to interesting and talented Sheerans on the web.
